Isaac Gatewood is facing three felony charges – manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury or death, and second-degree battery of certain persons – in relation to an accident that occurred on April 7 in Conway, Arkansas.
Prosecutors provided discovery to the defense last Monday, May 30 after Gatewood’s legal counsel, Karen Walker-Knight, said she was having difficulties accessing evidence against Gatewood. Circuit Judge Charles “Ed” Clawson Jr. pushed the pretrial for Gatewood’s case to 9 a.m. on Friday, June 3 so that the defense could have more time to review the discovery presented by the prosecution.
Witnesses to the accident said Gatewood ran a red light and collided with the passenger-side of a small pickup truck that was heading west on Oak Street, and proceeded to flee the scene of the accident. An occupant of the pickup truck, 32-year-old Arthur Collet, was trapped in the vehicle and sustained severe brain trauma that caused his death.
