An accident during the last lap of the Coke Zero 400, an annual NASCAR Spring Cup Series stock race at the Daytona International Speedway, resulted in the injuries of 25-year-old race car driver Austin Dillon and several fans, according to CBS News on July 6.

At around 2:40 p.m., as 40-year-old Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s car crossed the finish line, Dillon’s car flipped over onto the fence and then back onto the race track in an overturned position. It was then struck by 31-year-old Bradley Keselowski.

The accident caused a portion of the fence to be torn; debris and parts of the car fell onto the grandstands, a report by CBS Orlando affiliate WKMG-TV showed.

Thirteen fans were injured during the incident; eight declined treatment, four were treated on site, and one individual was taken to a local hospital, Daytona president Joie Chitwood said.
