Southside High School, Johnny Reb and “Dixie” are important parts of my life and heritage. I have sweet memories of playing quarterback at SHS and running onto the field while “Dixie” was blaring in the background. Now, 35 years later, almost nothing brings more joy to my heart than seeing my daughter, Victoria, performing the high kick to “Dixie”, as her mother, Tara, did a generation before.
