Early on in September, Samsung was forced to recall the Note 7 following reports of several instances of their flagship device spontaneously catching fire. Shortly after reports of the product defect went viral, Samsung claimed to have found a solution and was ready for customers to trade in their device for a replacement.
Just days after the replacement devices were shipped to waiting customers, devices began to catch fire once again, causing house fires, plane delays, and heavy investigations. During the first instances in September, Samsung engineers quickly found the defect to be the fault of the battery used in the device. After replacing the battery with a new supplier for the replacement Note 7’s, the problem remained persistent. Some experts claim that the new phone is the most advanced device currently on the market and that “Samsung seems to have packed it with so much innovation it became uncontrollable”.
These defective devices have been creating massive delays and problems across the nations. Airplanes, apartment complexes, and other highly populated places are issuing bans on the device in fear of combustion. Consumers pay top-dollar for new flagship phones and when their device turns out to be a dangerous hazard for everyone around them, the manufacturer must be ready to compensate customers for their mistakes.
