A total of nine individuals, including three infants, have been injured in a multi-vehicle accident that happened along the northbound lanes of Interstate 49 near mile marker 39 at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, the Arkansas State Police reported.
Police investigators said four vehicles were involved in the accident and noted that the victims were transported to several different local hospitals, including Washington Regional in Fayetteville, so that their non-critical injuries could be treated immediately.
The state Troop H and Troop L officers responded to the scene of the accident. Police closed one lane of the interstate to give way to police investigations and maintenance cleanup crews. The exact circumstances of the accident are still under investigation, but authorities believe the weather may have been a contributing factor as it was raining at the time of the collision.
